transpixel ~~~ Teething Poo's ~~~~
Whether cloth or disposable, and despite all our best efforts, sometimes nappy area can get a little red - especially with teething poos!
here's some of the favourite recommendations to clear it up. You'll need to give each of the 'lotions' a good couple of days trial 'til you know what works for your little one!:
1. Paw Paw ointment
2. Gaia Cornstarch powder or plain cornflour
3. cloth wipes with cammomile tea instead of commerical wipes
4. Calendula ointment
5. extra rinse for nappies, and use vinegar in the final rinse - gets rid of any detergent residue, and softens the nappies - be wary of use however in hard water areas, on some PUL and elastics!
6. just a few drops of olive oil in the bath
7. nappy-free time
8. More frequent changing until the rash is totally gone.
9. You might also want to change to a 'green' or 'eco' detergent - but make sure they are what they claim. transpixel

transpixel ~~~WASHING - the Dry Bucket Method~~~
here's my method - there are many variations.
1. nappies in nappy bucket - squirt poo off with Little Squirt. (this gets nearly everything off)
2. place in machine, cold pre-rinse (much for the same reason you do cold rinse for blood/vomit etc)
3. hot wash, eco detergent & teetree/eucalyptus oil. Vinegar in the rinse cycle reoves excess detergent and softens. (not rec in hard water areas and please check care instructions with your WAHM/Nappy seller as some fabrics and elastics are not good with vinegar.)
4. line dry (ideally)
LOVELY!
